It has been long since we have been talking about the great depression, recession etc. The $ currency which was at the center of every countries reserves, might have slowly started slipping. US deficit has been a concern of all the major countries, do we have an alternative. The head of world bank has been talking about Yuan as the new currency. Is it good for the world as a whole, and is it good for China. I believe it is, the western countries have been contracting and once open economies have started closing down. For the obvious reasons that, if people in a country are job less you can't export your jobs. What are the advantages for the world, and in general to China if it's currency starts appreciating.
Since the so called developing countries are opening up slowly but surely, it has 3 fold impact. 1st China has a huge market for consumption, hence having a stronger Yuan will surely help. 2nd we will have a new currency in the basket of currencies which is quite strong. 3rd every country will have a fair chance of competing with China, if the China stops having a strong hold on its currency from appreciating.

The Eye Wash
We have heard of different kind's of washes, the hand wash, the body wash and then the eye wash. In India eye wash is very prevalent. A year ago the 2G spectrum allocation scam happened. After a year the CBI thought of investigating and started raiding offices of Telecom ministry. How come they came to their senses after one complete year, after all the evidences have been done away with. It has been a month since the investigations started, no idea where it is heading. As per the article below, it cost the exchequer Rs.22,000 Crores. People who were responsible for it are at large.

Never mind the Indian public as always will do the usual 'forgive and forget' or should i say have already forgotten.

The Recycle bin
What is a bubble, technically bubble means “A thin film of liquid inflated with air or gas”. In the economic sense, bubble means too much money chasing too little thing, to the point that a small incident can burst it. Today we have seen the creation of bubble in terms of i-banks being shut down, due to sub-prime. Are we having such kind of bubbles today existing waiting to be burst? We might have bubble being formed once again since the Chinese are holding enormous amounts of US $ reserves. This is the state of doing the same things time and again, called the recycle bin effect. Toooooo much money following toooo little opportunities. Read on the below link for more details.

Solution, use your economic timing sense like India did recently to invest in gold. Which makes an already weak $ go even more bleak, making other commodities more precious. As the link below indicates.

Law in the right direction
Veerappa moily has a vision for resolving the legal tangles in the country, but is it enough if we have the vision. what are the steps needed and how are they going to execute the same is very important. we will have to wait and watch for next couple of months as to how things unfold. In fact today we need 6 monthly plans rather than 5 years plan. The first 3 months we should plan and execute the same in next 3 months, in case if there are some corrections to be made it can be achieved with in no time instead of waiting for 5 years to see the result.
After a grand vision, it is very important to follow this up with very prudent steps to accomplish the same. Let us hope that justice delayed does not become justice denied. Please read the article below to have a complete picture. http://blogs.reuters.com/india/2009/09/25/justice-no-longer-delayed-moilys-roadmap-for-reform/

Just Imagine
Just imagine if we were to have world class Universities in our country what can happen. Ages ago when sages were there in Nalanda university we were no.1 in metallurgy and et all. I have a strong feeling that even if we have 3 such universities in India, we can give any country run for their money.
There is just another way to do it, the institutions that we have today are also in good shape ( viz IIM’s and the IIT’s ) one key link missing is connecting our cooperates with these universities for funding and research. We just have to see as to how we can go from good to great. Please read the article below for further details.

The Transformation
I am talking about the transformation from G8 - G14. Please read the link below for understanding what it is all about. We have to do a postmortem to understand how this happened, over a period of time the G8 had become to some extent overconfident and to a great extent arrogant. The policies which were being formed were more to do with gambling and less to do with governance, this happened in the late 90's. Gambling is one addiction which cannot be cured, if this gets into the financial systems, we are bound to see collapses of Lehman brother kinds where a 150 year old institution just melts in moments. Impact is we have rampant job losses and decline in economy etc.
Hope with the new summit, we should be able to stabilize the situation a bit more. In addition hope the west starts understanding the meaning of conservatism. When communism died the world rejoiced upon it, when capitalism died the world gave it a silent burial.

All Said and done, every one wants to win
This is a saying which is always true for every game/event and even life for that matter. We want to win in what ever things that we indulge in. I have not seen the recently concluded test match against Srilanka, but the 100th test win has done a lot of good for Indian team. Some great batting(read Dravid,Gambhir and co.), and good bowling did it for us, where as for Srilankan's it was getting tangled in the web of sreesanth / ojha / harbhajan, which might have left a bitter taste in their mouth.
A test match is one of the earliest form's of cricket, however in the recent times due to lot many entertainment modes and due to gen Y's lack of patience this form of cricket is slowly getting erased. I don't know any other form or format of any game, which is played for 5 day's (except for chess, where there are only 2 players ramming their heads against each other :). In the olden golden day's, when there was no TV and only biwi this form of cricket was good. hope this form of game lasts, since it tries the best of the men to the best of their abilities.
The links below talk more about this match, the wall and et all.

Why should Indian's go abroad for Studies
After the attacks on Indians in Australia, one might ask why should Indian's go abroad for studies. Over the years institutions in India like the IIT's & IIM's have shown that we also can provide the best of education. But then we have problem of plenty in India, a country which has a population of 120+ crores it is difficult to get a good education for our children.
As seen in the link below, the main reason for Indians to go abroad for studies is the kind of mall practice's that are rampant in Indian colleges. These are only a few incidents which are outright visible. There are many more bad practice's which are not known. If we remove such mall practice's in our Institutions, I think we have a bright chance of giving a decent education to our children.

Infosys Vs Congress
This is a Comparison of two institutions, which are in totally different fields but can be compared at this stage. One is a Software giant, where as the other is a political giant. In Infosys merit is everything, where as we can't say the same in the other. Both have contributed to the nation, Congress might have contributed more but at the end of the day transparency triumph's over Ambiguity. To leave a legacy behind I think Infosys is in a better position today, than any other institution.

The Shoe Incident
This incident has been occurring on and off, it started with President Bush and is still continuing. Is this the right way to achieve anything, well I feel that a lot more can be achieved through the way of consensus. what one really has to do is go online and put in his/her thoughts online and start asking the like minded people to vote (we can start with friends/family). Well if we really want to achieve something once we have received considerable number of votes he/she can go to the concerned authority and ask for justice.
One thing is for sure, the ruling coalition was jolted to reality after the incident. See the link below.

UBS Vs US
In the past several days, there has been a unique fight going on. The fight between US and UBS, if we observe the fight very keenly it is clear that US will be able to crack down on the people who are stashing away money from the tax departments. What can the other countries learn from this, it is very clear that there is no point in running away from the tax departments. there will definitely be a time when the respective governments (excluding Gulf since they don't have any tax) will start chasing such banks.

Rating Agencies
The rating agencies like S&P / Moody's were very good in deciding upon the ratings of a company, industry and a country. Off late from the mid of 2008, it looks like one of the reasons for the fall of the i-Banks was the rating agencies. For how long can this go on, now since we know that the basis of giving ratings itself is wrong. With the kind of deficit the US is going to have, we have to see how they are going to rate the country. Definitely there will be a lot of countries which will need to be down graded, now are they going to rate the country appropriately only time will tell.

Oil PSUs and Gov. hand in glove
It has been a story of a country being held at ransom by the oil PSU's and truckers. The media is happy in covering the story and keeping the general public aware, but are they going to investigate as to what has really been the reason for oil shortage across the country. First the truckers go on strike, and asks for Rs.10 reduction on diesel. oil minister talks of reduction but the government is not ready for the terms. By now the whole stock of oil has been emptied, now even if the oil prices are coming down it won't be helping the general public. All the Oil PSU's have ensured that the price effect will only be coming into force once the new stock comes in. Now who was holding the country at ransom, was it the Oil PSU's, was it the truckers or the Government. I think this question will go unanswered.

Metro Man on Hyd Metro
The fall was quite evident. When Maytas Infra had won Hyderabad metro, Mr Sreedharan had a lot of reservations on the deal. In fact he had raised the question then, long before the satyam saga unfolded. Please see the link below.
http://in.biz.yahoo.com/090109/203/6zabg.html
Now we also have to see as to what happens to the comments given by Adhara government at the time of giving the bid to Maytas. It has already distanced itself from satyam, indeed you can never trust the politicians, they can swing in any way to save their skin.
